Alison Park Playground

A fenced, shaded inclusive playground ideal for all ages. The playground has two play zones separated by a brick seating wall. The lower zone has a playhouse, carousel and swings with a carer seat for younger children. The upper zone has a multiplay tower including a tube slide and climbing net. The large trampoline, mouse wheel, monkey bars and pod seat swing provide more adventure for older children. The music instrument and play panel encourage sensory play for all users. Arthur Byrne Reserve

Arthur Byrne Reserve is a large grassed beachside park located directly adjacent to Maroubra Beach. It has many grassed areas screened by native trees and shrubs, making it an ideal location for a BBQ or picnic. Larger and more open areas are used for kite flying, informal ball sports, walking and jogging. Park facilities include picnic shelters, BBQs, bubblers, beach access and toilets and change rooms in the surf lifesaving club house. The Maroubra Skate Park is located within the reserve. There is also a free outdoor gym which contains a wide range of strength and cardio equipment. Alcohol is prohibited at Arthur Byrne Reserve from sunset to sunrise. Public toilets are located on the Maroubra Beach promenade.

It is a major sporting facility that supports many rugby and soccer fields, a cricket pitch and practice nets. These areas are floodlit for night training. Coral Sea Park Playground

Coral Sea Park Playground separates the older children play zone and the younger children play zone. Both zones have slides and swings suitable for different user ages. The older children play zone has a multiplay structures with climbing wall and a bridge. The younger children play zone includes play panels, a rocker and a tube. Both play areas are under shade structures with seating walls. A piece of lawn between the two play areas provides picnic opportunities. The playground also has seats, a drinking fountain and bike racks to encourage residents to stay longer. A memorial is sitting at the higher side of the playground with a curved seating wall and a garden bed creates a peaceful atmosphere.

Coral Sea Park includes a number of soccer fields, a cricket pitch and practice nets. These areas are all floodlit for night training and night matches. Heffron Park is one of the largest and most popular parks in the area. It is well used throughout the week for training and for competition on weekends by a large range of local sporting clubs including netball, cricket, hockey, cycling, rugby union, rugby league and soccer. Located within the park is the Des Renford Leisure Centre, Heffron Pedal Park, a children's playground, Bunnerong Road Gymnasium, a 4.2km outdoor criterium track and a number of public amenities buildings. The park also provides opportunities for passive recreation such as walking, jogging, kite flying and ball games. There are many mature trees, both exotic and native, that provide shade, shelter and a fauna habitat. The Heffron Park Tennis Centre, on Bunnerong Road, Matraville, has twelve synthetic courts and is open every day. Located between Ascot Street and Goodwood Street in Kensington, Kokoda Park is named in honour of those heroic soldiers who served and lost their lives on the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea during World War II. The park has a large grassed area and features a memorial pathway leading to a monument. The path is a symbolic representation of the Kokoda Track. The park also includes a fenced junior playground. Grab a coffee from a café on nearby Anzac Parade and wind down in the tranquil environment.

There are many large trees, including fig and eucalyptus, providing shelter, shade and privacy from nearby properties. Memorial Reserve

Memorial Reserve is located on the corner of Beauchamp Road and Anzac Parade in Matraville. This large grassed area provides an entrance to a housing estate that was established between 1918 and 1925 to house returned soldiers and widows of soldiers from World War I. This settlement, known as the Soldier's Garden Village has streets named after battlefields and sites of World War I. The reserve has unique features including remnant cottage stones and memorial plaques.

The Ross Jones Memorial Pool was built in 1947. It is located next to Coogee Surf Life Saving Club at the south end of Coogee Beach. Waves from Coogee Beach spill over the concrete walls of the baths during high tide and rough seas. The pool is popular with families and children.

Wylies Baths

Wylie's Baths is one of Sydney's most recognisable and beautiful ocean tidal pools. It is located a few hundred metres south of Coogee Beach, sitting right below the magnificent Coastal Walkway. The Baths have a sweeping 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean and they overlook the famous Wedding Cake Island. Visitors regularly come to Wylie's to enjoy a casual dip, to swim some laps in the 50 yard pool, soak up some rays or to enjoy a sandwich, coffee or refreshments at the kiosk. The beach is protected and is generally very calm making it an ideal swimming spot for families or for snorkelling on a summer’s day. Nearby is the Prince Henry Centre which includes a café.

Maroubra is best known for its kilometre-long sandy foreshore, good breaks and relaxed beachside vibe. It’s one of Sydney’s most popular surf beaches and was the first declared surfing reserve in NSW. It’s patrolled year-round by Council Lifegards and patrolled during daylight saving months by the Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club and South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club. There’s plenty to do with a playground, skatepark, outdoor gym and large reserves with barbecues and picnic tables. A large, free car park is adjacent to the beach and the Coastal Walkway runs along the beach promenade.

The centre features an acrylic surface show court and nine synthetic courts. A clubhouse, kiosk and changing facilities are located on site. The centre is planned to open 7am – 10pm Monday – Friday and 7am – 8pm on weekends. The centre is managed by Sydney Sports Management Group (SSMG).
