In winter, Coogee Oval is home to the Randwick Rugby Union Club and caters for up to 5,000 spectators. The oval is also used as a first grade cricket facility during the warmer months. A fenced children's playground is located on the perimeter of the oval on the corner of Brook and Dolphin Streets. Parking is available along Alfreda Street and in the Council car park adjacent to the oval (access from Alfreda Street and Dolphin Street). The oval is located directly opposite Coogee Beach and adjacent to the Coogee shopping village.

History

The oval has longstanding cultural and historical links to sports and recreation in the area and is the venue for first class sport. The oldest building within the Coogee Oval boundary is the grandstand, constructed in 1924. The other buildings are the East Ward Senior Citizens Centre, the Main Entrance Building, the Bob Clarke First Aid Centre and the Cyril Towers Grandstand.
