Home modification & maintenance

Randwick City Council provides a Home Maintenance and Modification Service for eligible clients, to make their homes safer and more comfortable to live in. Our focus is on safety, accessibility and independence. Our clients including frail aged and older people, and people with disabilities and their carers/representatives, who live in Randwick and Waverley LGA’s. Subsidies may apply.

Home Modification

Home modification services require an Occupational Therapist’s referral, and include; small external ramp construction and installation; internal threshold ramps; small step and platform step construction and installation; supply and installation of small custom handrails; stainless steel grab rail installation; installing hand-held showers; shower screen removal and custom shower track and curtain installation; installing lever taps; raising of chair and bed heights; minor concreting work.

Home Maintenance

Home maintenance services do not require an Occupational Therapist's referral, and include: servicing taps and replacing washers; replacing light bulbs and fuses; minor carpentry work and repairs; minor furniture alterations and repairs; door fitting/installation and repair; lock installation and minor repairs; battery operated smoke detector installation, inspection and battery replacement.

Home maintenance services NOT provided include: gardening maintenance, lawn mowing, domestic assistance, cleaning, vacuuming or window washing, gutter cleaning, painting, roof & gutter repairs.
