About Randwick Cemetery

Council-owned cemetery in South Coogee 

Owned and operated by the Randwick City Council the cemetery is located on Malabar Road South Coogee near the corner of Arden Street. Randwick General Cemetery has served the City since the early 1870s.

The cemetery covers an area of approximately 3.5 hectares and contains a number of graves of historical significance to the local area.

Although there are not currently any plots or vaults for sale the cemetery still operates for the purpose of burials and ash internments.

Cemetery Visiting Times

The Cemetery is open for grave visitation from 7am till dusk.

You can enquire about a particular memorial and its location within the Cemetery by calling Council (1300 722 542) and speaking to the relevant officer. To assist with your enquiry, please provide:

  • Name of the deceased
  • Date of birth
  • Date of death
  • Religion

Frequently asked questions

How many people can be buried in a grave?

The number of full burials per grave at Randwick Cemetery is two.  In addition to burials, up to 3 sets of ashes can also be interred in the same grave.  It is recommended that these details be determined in advance to assist with planning burials.
