Walter Williamson Park (previously Central Park), located on Cooper Street, Maroubra, is a large open space park offering grass and mature trees with natural shade. There is bench style seating located to watch the kids enjoy the playground and bike track, and plenty of room to kick around a ball or swing a bat.

The playground is covered by a shade structure and features swings sets, climbing structures, slides and platforms. There is a soft-fall ground covering under the equipment and the playground is surrounded by a junior bike track for bike, skate-board and scooter lovers.

The park was recently re-named in honour of the late Walter Williamson OAM, a much-loved member of the community and resident of Maroubra for over 50 years.

Mr Williamson was involved in a number of community organisations and was awarded the Randwick Council Community Service Award in 1992, the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2011.
