“The Space to Create program offers artists in our community the opportunity to have a space of their own and explore their creative pursuits,” said Councillor Philipa Veitch, Mayor of Randwick.

“We’re looking forward to extending this program into 2024 and creating more opportunity for art and artists in our City,” said Mayor Veitch.

Eight suites of varying sizes are available for a six-to-12-month residency period. Resident writers and creatives will have access to the library’s extensive collection of books and materials, including maps and photographs to help inspire their work. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to display their work and provide talks or workshops throughout their residency.

Residency is open to all writers and creatives working across various artforms (e.g., digital art, fashion, calligraphy, collage, crafts, drawing, graphic art, installation art, jewellery, mixed media, painting, mosaics, textile art, film, video, video games, etc).

Randwick City Council is committed to supporting the growth and diversity of arts and cultural activities in ways that benefit the community, business, and visitors to the area. The Space to Create program delivers on Council's promise to grow the use of all existing Council venues by cultural arts programs by 10 percent from 2021.

The residency program requires a small, affordable fee to use the space. For more information on fees, click here.

We invite creatives to apply now – submissions close Wednesday 15 November 2023.
