Over the Australia Day long weekend Randwick residents will have multiple opportunities to contribute to continuing fundraising efforts in support of bushfire recovery, Randwick City Council Mayor Danny Said announced today.
Mayor Said: “Fire season is far from over and our friends in the bush still need our help. Homes and properties have been destroyed, lives have been turned upside down and support is required on many levels.
“Money given to charities allows volunteer brigades to work directly with communities. These programs deliver much needed essential items and relief supplies, connects fire-affected community members with family or services and provides ongoing care and support.
“Our assistance is still needed. If you’re in the position to be able to donate – and it really doesn’t matter how much you give – you’ll have many opportunities over the Australia Day long weekend.”
Randwick Council’s Australia Day celebrations will include a gold coin donation BBQ, hosted by Maroubra United Board Riders. The event will take place at Maroubra Beach on Sunday 26 January 2020 from 10am to 12.30pm. There will be free surf lessons, beach cricket, tarp surfing as well as rides and amusements.
