Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club Redevelopment

Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

Background

Maroubra SLSC is one of Australia’s founding surf clubs established in 1906. It provides volunteer patrols of Maroubra Beach complementing Council lifeguard services as well as surf sport and water safety education and training for the community. The club currently has 1,410 members.

The club currently makes use of an existing building on the northern end of Maroubra Beach; however the building is deteriorating and can no longer meet the needs of the club in providing their community service.

Randwick City Council is redeveloping the Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club to deliver a modern, fit-for-purpose facility that supports volunteer lifesaving, training, youth development and community connection for generations to come.

Maroubra SLSC Site Plan

Proposal

The proposed new building reflects more than 18 months of consultation with club members and is now on public exhibition. Randwick City Council works closely with the Club and the consultants to develop a new SLSC to cater for current and future needs.

The redevelopment of Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club includes a new lift, upgraded changerooms, enhanced storage, AV training equipment, and fire safety upgrades. These facilities will improve lifesaving training, support surf patrols, and create accessible, inclusive spaces, benefiting club members, community groups, and the broader public at Maroubra Beach.
