Randwick City Council’s finest athletes were acknowledged and young sports champions encouraged at an awards ceremony on Thursday 25 October 2018.The Randwick City Council Sporting Excellence Awards recognise the excellence, commitment and achievement of our local athletes, Randwick Mayor Kathy Neilson said.

“The value of local sport is that it brings people together and has a positive social and cultural impact on our community,” said Mayor Neilson. “When children, especially, are inspired to participate in sport they learn about working as a team and understand that people have different abilities.

“This year’s award winners have also demonstrated the benefits of goal-setting and discipline, which are valuable skills for success on the sporting field as well as in life,” said Mayor Neilson. “I congratulate all of the nominees as well as the winners, and wish them the best in their future sporting endeavours.”
