UPDATE 1/4/2016: Malabar Beach has re-opened today, Friday 1 April 2016, following preliminary water sampling results.

The preliminary results revealed very low levels of Faecal Coliform at Maroubra Beach, Little Bay Beach and Malabar Beach.

The levels appear to be below the guidelines for recreational water use apart from one test taken from the middle of Malabar Beach.

Sydney Water have suggested the slightly elevated levels may have been attributed to storm water influence and have concluded that Malabar Beach has overall, very low Faecal Coliform levels.

Further water quality testing is currently underway.
