New trees around town!

The planting of new street trees is underway across Randwick City, ensuring a greener, more vibrant future for our town centres.
The scope of the works includes replacing trees in poor health and filling empty tree pits with new, healthy trees, as well as soil improvement.
Randwick Council has already planted 200 street trees this year. An additional 100 trees will be planted by early spring across the LGA, including 52 trees in our town centres.
Planting is taking place at the following locations:
Frenchman’s Road Town Centre, Randwick
- Frenchman’s Rd
- Removing 16 Magnolia little gem trees in poor health
- Replacing with same species
- Soil improvement
- Clovelly Rd
- Removing existing tree in poor health
- Replacing with five Tristaniopsis laurina (water gum)
New Orleans Crescent Town Centre, Maroubra
- Lexington Place
- Planting three Eleaocarpus reticulatus (Blueberry Ash) in empty tree pits
Avoca Street and Randwick Town Centre, Randwick
- Avoca Street (between Short St and Alison Rd)
- Removing six trees in poor health, stump grinding as required
- Relacing with 10 Corymbia maculata (spotted gum)
- Avoca Street (north of Alison Rd and up to Rae St)
- Planting of four Corymbia maculata (spotted gum) and two Tristaniopsis laurina (water gum)
- Belmore Road: trees in the vicinity of the Royal Randwick Mall are deciduous. They will be monitored over spring as they take on new growth to assess their health and to determine if any replacement planting is required.
Bunnerong Road, Matraville
- Removing seven Cupaniopsis anacardioides (Tuckeroo) in poor health
- Relacing with seven new trees
Kingsford Town Centre (between Rainbow St and Barker St)
- Removing five Magnolia grandiflora in poor health
- Relacing with five new Magnolia grandiflora
