Swimming pool barrier inspection program

In accordance with the Swimming Pools Act 1992, Council has adopted a Swimming Pool Barrier Inspection Program PDF, 151.29 KB for the inspection of barriers and fencing to privately-owned swimming pools within Randwick City Council, including pools associated with the following types of premises:

• Backpackers
• Bed and breakfast
• Hotels & Motels
• Serviced apartments
• Residential flat buildings
• Residencies having more than 2 separate dwellings

The legislation states that these accommodation types have to be inspected once every three years.

For inspections initiated by the Council Program or an application for a swimming pool Certificate of Compliance, we charge a $150 fee for the initial inspection, or $250 if two or more inspections are required.

Council officers will also inspect swimming pool barriers within other residential premises, upon receipt of certain types of applications, certificates and complaints.
