Coogee Sparkles
Please join us for our annual Coogee Sparkles event on Tuesday 31 December 2024 at Goldstein Reserve, Coogee.
At 9pm a 15-minute fireworks display will entertain the audience from the north end of Coogee Beach, near Dunningham Reserve.
Tips for Coogee Sparkles:
- This event is popular, so arrive early to secure a spot.
- Parking is very limited. Please walk, cycle or use public transport or ride share services
- Glass, smoking and alcohol are banned on Coogee Beach and surrounding reserves.
- Please dispose of your rubbish responsibly or take your rubbish with you when you leave.
- Please wear sunscreen and appropriate clothing including a hat!
The event site will be patrolled by security and first aid officers between midday and 11pm who will work with Eastern Beaches Police Area Command to ensure the safety of the general public.

Road Closures, Special Event Clearways and Traffic Updates
In conjunction with NSW Police, Council will be managing access to Coogee Beach Vantage Points with the implementation of special event clearways and road closures.

Road Closures
As part of the event management the following road closures will be in place on 31 December 2023 from 5.30pm – 10.30pm in the following streets:

Clearways are strict no-parking zones, even for residents or Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, call 132 701 to find its new location.
Carpark Closures
The parking lot at Coogee Oval and the Coogee Parking Area on Dolphin Street near the Coogee Pavilion will be closed on 31 December 2023 between 12.00pm and 10.30pm.
Public Transport, Taxis & Rideshare
Public transport to and from Coogee will continue to operate. Routes will be altered to accommodate the road closures including changes to the 313, 350, 370, 373 and 374 bus routes. Details will be provided at transportnsw.info

Rideshare / Taxis
Taxi, Uber and other ride share services will operate in the area, however are also subject to road closures when in place (5:30pm - 10:30pm).
Accessibility options (is there any disabled parking)?
There are limited street parking options available for disabled parking. The closest bays to Coogee Beach are on Beach Street and Wolseley Road. Please plan your trip ahead of time.

Entertainment
Roaming entertainment will be held along Coogee Beach promenade, including bubbles from a fairy and mermaid, spectacular stilt walkers, and party music from great local roving bands.
Bubble entertainment will go from 2pm until 6pm (by Yabadoo Entertainment)
Stilt walkers will be roving from 2pm until 8.30pm (by Art De Masque)

Vantage Points
There will be multiple vantage points to view the fireworks around Coogee, including:
- Goldstein Reserve, Coogee: located right next to the beach
- Coogee Beach on the sand
- Grant Reserve & Trenerry Reserve
- Clovelly Beach Car Park
- Burrows Park Headland
- Local restaurants and hotels: many local establishments host excellent New Year’s Eve events within sight of the fireworks
Please note there will be a fenced fireworks exclusion zone on Dunningham Reserve Headland.
Parking & Accessible Parking
Parking is limited in Coogee and the surrounding precinct. We recommend public transport, however if you wish to drive, please consider road closures and public parking station closures are in effect.
The parking lot at Coogee Oval and the Coogee Parking Area on Dolphin Street near the Coogee Pavilion will be closed on 31 December 2023 between 12:00pm and 10:30pm. If you are planning to park in either of these car parks during the morning, please return to your car before 12noon to avoid having your car towed.

Facilities
- Life Guards are on duty and First Aid Stations will be available in Goldstein Reserve.
- Public toilets and water stations are also available.
- There will not be any food or beverage stalls in Goldstein Reserve, however you are welcome to bring a picnic, low rise chairs and a small sunshade.
- Local businesses will also be open and operating including takeaway.
A reminder that Coogee Beach and surrounding reserves are alcohol free zones.

What time are the fireworks?
The fireworks will take place from 9pm on December 31st for 15 minutes. There are no fireworks at midnight.
What else is happening on New Year's Eve?
There will be roving entertainment along the beach and in Goldstein Reserve. There are also a variety of local venues hosting NYE celebrations - we recommend booking with venues in advance. Some venues are accepting walk-in’s on the night.

Can I bring my dog?
Pets are not allowed on Coogee Beach. We recommend keeping your pets safe at home.
What is not allowed on the Beach and Reserve?
Coogee Beach and the surrounding reserves will be operating as alcohol free zones on NYE. Additionally, smoking and glass bottles are not allowed on the beach or in the reserves. Drones are also not allowed and we ask that you do not use tents or sunshades in Goldstein Reserve after dusk. Vendors selling goods at Coogee Beach and surrounding reserves are not permitted.
NSW Police and Council Rangers will be enforcing these rules on NYE.
Access to Giles Baths
Giles Baths form part of the Fireworks exclusion zone and access to these baths will not be available after 6.00pm on the 31st.

Will the fireworks still happen if it's raining?
Adverse weather conditions including strong wind and storms may result in cancellation of the fireworks.
Conditions are monitored closely over the course of the afternoon and evening and updates will be made available on the council’s social media sites.
