Resilient Randwick

Resilience is our community’s ability to get through tough times, adapt to change, and keep growing stronger - together. Resilient Randwick is a Council wide strategy designed to help our community respond to challenges and bounce back stronger.

Why resilience matters

Resilience is about more than bouncing back; it is about growing stronger together.

For Randwick, this means making sure our people, places, businesses, and systems can adapt and thrive through change.
Some challenges happen suddenly, such as a storm, flood, or power outage. These are acute shocks.

Others build over time, like rising cost of living, mental health challenges, or housing stress. These are chronic stresses.
By understanding the shocks and stresses that affect life in Randwick, we can plan ahead and make sure no one is left behind.

Resilient Randwick Strategy 2026-36

The Resilient Randwick Strategy 2026-2036 is Randwick City Council’s blueprint to creating a community that is best placed to not only survive but adapt and thrive through the wide range of shocks and stresses we will face over the next decade.

The Strategy provides a locally tailored framework to build a resilient Randwick, setting out five key Outcomes that guide action towards building a resilient city. These Outcomes are supported by 22 Goals and 97 place based, evidence-informed Strategic Actions to be delivered over 4-10 years:

These Outcomes, along with the Goals and Strategic Actions, have been developed based on a thorough assessment of Randwick’s unique combination of shocks and stresses that our community face. This means we can invest in priority areas, be better prepared for what we know we will have to deal with and bounce back faster.

The Strategy sets out practical steps Council has committed to take to build a stronger, more connected and climate-ready community. Over the next ten years, our community will see projects and programs addressing issues from climate change and urban greening through to social cohesion, resilient infrastructure and housing affordability - and everything in between. Implementation will be funded through existing operational budgets and available grant funding, and will be tracked through Council’s existing Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.

The details about how we developed the Strategy, including the risk assessment process, can be found the in supporting document Resilient Randwick Strategy Synthesis Report 2026.
