Road resurfacing will take place on Coogee Bay Road in June 2024

Coogee Bay Road will be closed for four nights in June 2024 from 8pm to 5am to enable important asphalt resurfacing works to take place between Arden and Brook Streets.

The road will be completely stripped back to its base level and reconstructed with a full-depth 200mm asphalt to rejuvenate the road, enhance durability and extend the road’s lifecycle.

The works will result in a smoother and long-lasting road surface.

The works have been deliberately scheduled during the cooler months and mid-week, Monday to Thursday, to minimise impact to local businesses.

The work schedule is:

  1. Night shift (03 June 2024) – Excavation of drainage pits
  2. Night shift (11 June 2024) – 200mm asphalt mill and 100mm asphalt base course
  3. Night shift (12 June 2024) – 50mm asphalt fill for intermediate course
  4. Night shift (13 June 2024) – 50mm asphalt fill for final wearing course

The above schedule is dependent on weather and subject to change.

Throughout the works, road closures will be in effect and the road will re-open during the day.

Additionally, there will be a detour of bus routes 370, 374 & 374X during the works. This will affect the route of the buses, but not bus stops as no stops are located in the works area.

Local residents and businesses are being notified about the works via letter and door-knocking of local businesses is also taking place.

The works are likely to result in noise and light impacts. Council will endeavour to complete the noisiest activities prior to midnight and reduce noise wherever possible.

Access to properties, businesses and pedestrian walkways will be maintained at all times. Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist.

Randwick City Council apologies in advance for any inconvenience and thanks local residents and businesses for their understanding while we undertake these important works.
