The dedicated men and women who make up the Randwick City Lifeguards will kick start summer this Saturday with the official start of the beach patrol season.

This weekend will see the recommencement of a full summer patrol at Clovelly Beach and longer patrol hours at Maroubra and Coogee Beaches when daylight savings starts on 4 October.

Our Lifeguards are some of the best, most experienced and qualified lifeguards in Australia. Last summer our Lifeguards made hundreds of rescues and treated thousands with first aid, which is nothing short of extraordinary.

So as the warmer weather approaches, I urge you to enjoy our beautiful beaches safely. Remember, swimming at the beach can still be dangerous. Always swim between the red and yellow flags, avoid swimming alone and swim at patrolled beaches during patrolled hours.

I would like to thank the Lifeguards on behalf of the Randwick City community for their professionalism and ongoing commitment to their work. I would also like extend my gratitude to the many local volunteer Surf Life Savers who work with our Lifeguards during the busy summer period.

For further information about our patrolled beaches, visit our Beaches and coast page.

Let’s all enjoy a long, hot and safe summer this year.
