Key Objectives
Randwick is a wonderful coastal area with many cultural and natural assets to maintain and protect. We live and work on the unceded land of the Bidjigal and Gadigal people. I deeply respect their continuing culture and heritage, and proudly support Council’s ongoing work towards Reconciliation.
The most significant issue facing us all is the climate crisis. At a local government level, there is much that can be done and achieved in the race to decarbonise our society. Randwick can build climate resilience and prepare for heat waves, heavier rain, storms and rising tides. I will work closely with the community and on Council to:
- Develop and deliver the proposed Resilience Framework and Action Plan for Randwick City Council;
- Cool our suburbs by increasing tree canopy to at least 40%, to reduce urban heat and improve health and wellbeing in accordance with NSW Government publication, Biodiversity in Place 2024;
- Support community planting of nature strips, gardens, balconies, rooftops and pocket parks to increase biodiversity and provide habitat corridors for native animals;
- Support increased uptake of solar roof panel installation and electrification of all public assets, especially where Council has control over its operations and infrastructure, to become Carbon Neutral by 2030.
I will work in the community and on Council to uphold the principles of diversity and inclusion across our multi-cultural community. At the core of all my work as a Randwick Councillor, will be the Greens’ four key principles of:
- Grass roots democracy
- Social justice
- Climate justice & environmental sustainability, and
- Peace and nonviolence.
