Part of Randwick City Council's Town Hall Takeover

Heaps Decent will transform Randwick Town Hall into a vibrant creative hub through a free week-long youth program spanning music, digital media and multidisciplinary arts. Evening workshops will invite the wider community to create alongside artists, culminating in a public showcase celebrating the original work and talent developed throughout the week.

About this workshop

Igniting Stages is a practical DJing and electronic performance workshop led by NIMA award-winning and triple j artist Djanaba.

Known for their authentic electronic-pop sound and magnetic stage presence, Djanaba will guide participants through the foundations of DJing, including track selection, cueing, transitions, set structure and building energy across a live performance.

The workshop will also explore the creative elements that make a set feel personal and distinctive. Participants will consider how musical influences, identity, storytelling and stage presence can shape their individual sound and connection with an audience.

Blending their Bundjalung heritage with an unapologetic queer identity, Djanaba has performed at major events including Groovin the Moo and SummerCamp, and has collaborated with artists including PNAU and Sonny Grin.

No previous DJing or performance experience is required. The session will combine demonstrations, discussion and supported hands-on practice in a welcoming environment.
