Death Cafés are a worldwide movement, taking place in over 90 countries. They are non-judgmental and compassionate environments, where anyone can explore their thoughts and feelings about death, dying and end-of-life options.
The aim of a Death Café is to increase death literacy and to create awareness around death in an often-light-hearted way. Each event is different from the last, with different community stories and takeaways. At each event there will be an opportunity to introduce yourself but there is no pressure to share.
A Death Café is not a grief counselling or therapy service, or a place to promote death-related businesses.
Read or watch our interview with our Death Café facilitators Kelly and Angela to learn more about what to expect.
This event is a join partnership between Waverley, Randwick and Woollahra Councils.
