Coogee Beach is set to get a brand new $6.75M amenities, kiosk and bus shelter.

Randwick Councillors endorsed plans at a Council Meeting on Tuesday 10 December 2024 to knock down the ageing facilities on Arden Street and replace it with a new building with a curved concrete roof inspired by the Coogee coastline.

Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker said the new facilities more than double the number of toilets for women and better links the kiosk with Goldstein Reserve.

“We know the current facilities are ageing and not meeting the needs of beach and park users. This new building has been designed to make better use of its idyllic location with an expanded outdoor dining area orientated towards the beach.”

The new building significantly increase the amount of toilet facilities for women, provides both private and communal wash basins as well as a new undercover bus shelter, kiosk and storage facilities for Coogee Surf Life Saving Club and Randwick Council workers.

In mid-2024, Council consulted the community on two design options, with the results finding 60% support for a new build and 42% support for refurbishing the existing facilities.

Additional feedback from the community has also been incorporated into the design including re-orientating the storage area and diverting service vehicle usage away from the grassed area.

The new building features environmental features such as natural lighting and ventilation, energy efficient LED lighting, energy efficient heat pump and construction materials with high recycled content.

Council will fund the project by allocating funds over the coming years. Construction is planned to commence in 2027-28.
