- networking opportunities and engagement
Small Business NSW
Small businesses are the backbone of Australia's economy, representing 96 per cent of all businesses in the country. There are an estimated two million small businesses across the nation providing nearly half of all employment. In NSW alone, there are 680,000 small businesses employing around 50 per cent of the NSW workforce.
In addition to contributing to the economy directly, the small business sector is a crucial platform which underpins the efficient operation of many medium-sized and large businesses.
The Office of the Small Business Commissioner was established in mid 2011. Ms Robyn Hobbs OAM started in the role of NSW Small Business Commissioner on 25 February 2014.
The role of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner is to support small businesses throughout NSW by:
- Providing dispute resolution services
- Delivering quality business advice through Small Biz Connect
- Speaking up for small business within government
Realise Business operates as a Not-for-Profit enterprise, and are proud to be funded by all levels of Government, which means small business owners can get advice from our highly experienced Business Advisors for a fraction of the cost of private business coaching. Plus, FREE membership gives you access to our growing network of up to 300,000 other Sydney businesses, regular events and education for every stage of business.
Realise Business provides a range of affordable services to support small businesses, including:
- Business advice & coaching
- Networking events
- Training workshops
- Business masterminds
Every business is entitled to 4hrs with an experienced Business Advisor for free. So, if you haven’t done so already, take advantage of these sessions, which are funded by the NSW Government Business Connect Program.
Following this, you can continue to work with your Business Advisor to grow your business, via a package of 6 business advice sessions at the subsidised price of only $249.

The Digital Enterprise program
The Digital Enterprise Program is an Australian Government initiative aimed at helping organisations succeed online. The program provides free group training and one-on-one coaching support for small-to-medium enterprises (SME) and not-for-profit organisations (NFP) to help them better maximise online opportunities.
The program will help all types of businesses improve their online presence, offer new products and services, expand their market, improve their competitiveness and increase communication with customers and suppliers.
The group training programs are held at various locations in the Greater Sydney Digital Enterprise program region with topics ranging from How to Create a Digital Strategy to Building Online Communities and Protecting your Brand Online. You can view all of the training topics .
The Greater Sydney Region program is being delivered by the NSW Business Chamber. The region incorporates the following areas:
- Inner South West / Sutherland
- South West / Outer South West
- North Sydney / Hornsby & Ryde
- City & Inner South / Eastern Suburbs

NSW Business Chamber
NSW Business Chamber (NSWBC) is a not-for-profit member organisation committed to helping businesses of all sizes manage their people and growth more efficiently.
NSWBC currently have over 13,000 members and represent more than 20,000 businesses through associations with Local Chambers throughout NSW.
