NSW Government - Introducing the Live Performance Venue Grant

Are you a hospitality venue looking to add live performance to your regular operations?

The Live Performance Venue Grant has recently been announced, inviting eligible hospitality venues from the Six Cities Region to apply for grant funding of $20,000 to $80,000 to assist in staging live performance in their venue.

The Program aims to provide support to hospitality venues looking to incorporate live performance into their everyday offering, increasing the amount and diversity of live performances in the night-time economy.

Grant funding can be spent on:

  • Equipment (speakers, PA systems, etc)
  • Programming after 5pm (the payment of live performance artists)
  • Marketing of live performances
  • Minor venue improvements (not requiring development consent) such as staging and soundproofing

Grant applications close on Wednesday 3 April, 2pm.

The Live Performance Venue Program is part of the NSW Government’s Venues Unlocked initiative. Venues Unlocked is being jointly delivered by the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner and Sound NSW, which is currently offering soundproofing grants for live music venues.

Small businesses are the backbone of Australia's economy, representing 96 per cent of all businesses in the country. There are an estimated two million small businesses across the nation providing nearly half of all employment. In NSW alone, there are 680,000 small businesses employing around 50 per cent of the NSW workforce.

In addition to contributing to the economy directly, the small business sector is a crucial platform which underpins the efficient operation of many medium-sized and large businesses.

The Office of the Small Business Commissioner was established in mid 2011. Ms Robyn Hobbs OAM started in the role of NSW Small Business Commissioner on 25 February 2014.

The role of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner is to support small businesses throughout NSW by:

  • Providing dispute resolution services
  • Delivering quality business advice through Small Biz Connect
  • Speaking up for small business within government

Plus, FREE membership gives you access to our growing network of up to 300,000 other Sydney businesses, regular events and education for every stage of business.

Realise Business provides a range of affordable services to support small businesses, including:

  • Business advice & coaching
  • Networking events
  • Training workshops
  • Business masterminds

Every business is entitled to 4hrs with an experienced Business Advisor for free. So, if you haven’t done so already, take advantage of these sessions, which are funded by the NSW Government Business Connect Program.

Following this, you can continue to work with your Business Advisor to grow your business, via a package of 6 business advice sessions at the subsidised price of only $249.

Self-Employment Assistance can help you turn your business idea or existing small business into a viable business. The program allows you to choose the level of support that meets your needs and the needs of your small business.

Self-Employment Assistance can help you with your business idea or existing business through its flexible services including:

  • Exploring Self-Employment Workshops
  • Business Plan Development
  • free accredited Small Business Training
  • Business Advice Sessions
  • Business Health Checks
  • Small Business Coaching.

You may also be eligible for financial support while you start and run your business as part of Small Business Coaching.

Sydney Business is an approved Workforce Australia provider for the Self-Employment Assistance program and provides business training, mentoring and coaching to maximise the success of small businesses. Participants in the program can also access accredited training and choose to do shorter skillset training or longer Certificate III or IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business. All of the training is government funded and at no cost to the participants with full access to training materials provided.
