Events for children

The majority of our regular events for children run during term time. Bookings open one week prior to the event date. Information on our current programs can be found below.

Our regular children’s program of events does not run during school holidays.


Regular Children's Activities

Babies Love Books (0-12 months)

Babies Love Books is a weekly program dedicated to promoting early literacy skills and nurturing a love of books for little ones 0-12 months old.

Come along to enjoy rhymes, songs, and stories with your baby.

This event will be held each week of the year, except public holidays and school holidays.

Busy Bookworms (12-24 months)

Busy Bookworms is a weekly program for children aged between 12-24 months and their carers. Bring your busy little bookworm to our supportive and playful learning space where they will have a happy time developing language skills through songs, movement, stories for toddlers!

This event will be held each week of the year, except school holidays and public holidays.

Bop 2 Books (24-36 months)

Bop 2 Books is a weekly program for children aged between 24-36 months, featuring rhymes, music, and stories for young children and their carers.

Come along and Bop with us!

This event will be held each week of the year, except school holidays and public holidays.

Saturday Storytime (0-5 years)

This is an early literacy session aimed at 0-5 year olds. We will have a great time reading stories, singing rhymes and learning new things.

Bookings are not required.

This event will be held each week, except public holidays.

Storytown (3-5 years)

Come on down to Storytown, a magical place full of books, craft and big smiles. Each week we will explore a new theme. What will you learn at Storytown?

Every child who visits Storytown will be given a special passport, which will be stamped at each visit. Collect six stamps to receive a prize!

This event will be held once a month, except school holidays and public holidays.

Sensory Storytime (2-5 years)

Sensory Storytime for 2-5 year olds and their carers is an inclusive early literacy and social play program aimed at autistic children and children with sensory processing differences. Join us for a fun and interactive storytime with books, songs, movement, and therapeutic sensory play in a small group setting.

This event will be held each week of the year, except school holidays and public holidays.

Spark in the Park (0-5 years)

First Wednesday of each month at Randwick Community Centre, 27 Munda Street

Join us outdoors for stories, songs and play for children 0-5 years of age. Look out for our colourful Spark truck in the park.

Weather conditions permitting, attendees will be notified of cancellations via email to the address used to book attendance.

Bookings are essential and open one month prior to the event date.

This event will be held each month except public holidays.

Come and Play in Maroubra and Randwick (0-5 years)

Make a play date with the library. Drop in at any time throughout the session to enjoy lots of toys, games, learning and fun! For children 0-5 years of age.

Come and play for a little or a long time between 10am-12pm. There will be both themed and free play areas with lots of toys and games to enjoy.

Toy library staff will be there to talk to you about our wonderful Toy and Games Library and how children of all ages learn through play.

Note: The first Friday of every month is Come and Play Day at Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra and the fourth Thursday of every month at Margaret Martin Library in Randwick. There are no sessions on public holidays as the library will be closed.
