The Stella Prize celebrates the best book by an Australian woman, whether fiction or nonfiction, in the previous calendar year.

The Miles Franklin Award was established in 1957 by Stella Maria Sarah Miles Franklin, author of My Brilliant Career. Books nominated are those of a high literary merit, and present stories about Australian life.
