JP SERVICE DISRUPTION: Sat 21 Feb - Fri 6 Mar 2026

From Saturday 21st February through to Friday 6th March inclusive, there will be no volunteer Justice of the Peace (JP) service at any Randwick City Library locations. This is due to a library systems upgrade and extended offline period.

The volunteer JP Service resumes at Margaret Martin Library in Randwick on Saturday, 7th March 2026, and on Sunday, 8th March 2026 at Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra.


Randwick City Library offers a volunteer Justice of the Peace (JP) service at locations as outlined below, excluding public holidays. Bookings are not required.

If you have a large number of documents, please consider making a personal appointment with a JP using the JP Public Register

As this is a popular service, wait times may apply.

Customers with a large number of documents may be asked to return at another time. This is at the discretion of the JP on service. If you have a large number of documents, please consider making a personal appointment using the JP Public Register.

Please have any photocopies, original documents and ID prepared in advance.

What NSW JPs can do

New South Wales Justices of the Peace CAN certify copies, witness statutory declarations and affidavits, and perform other functions authorised under NSW legislation.

New South Wales Justices of the Peace are PROHIBITED from witnessing ANY of the following documents:

  • Powers of Attorney
  • Proof of Life forms

Documents originating from outside Australia, including embassy documents, or documents intended for use outside Australia, cannot be witnessed by a NSW Justice of the Peace. In these cases, you will need to see a Public Notary.

Do you need to complete a Commonwealth statutory declaration?

Did you know that you can create and download a digital Commonwealth statutory declaration in English using the myGov website or the myGov app?
