Support for HSC Students - Online Sessions

Here are a range of online events designed to support HSC students with their learning during this difficult time of restrictions and library closures.

SLNSW SMART RESEARCH FOR HSC STUDENTS

The current learning environment is particularly challenging for HSC students. Specialist librarians at the State Library of NSW have put together a series of free online workshops that will help students find the right tools, manage citations, recognise the best quality information sources and most importantly save valuable time. Sessions will be offered via Zoom and topics covered are listed below.

Please note that to get the most out of these online workshops and to access a range of online research resources you are recommended to have a library card from SLNSW or Randwick City Library.

Getting better results from your searches: 28 May 4.30–5 pm

If you want to search for perfect resources online, and save time in the process, there are ways of searching to get you better results. This session goes through some hints and tips to maximise your search results.

Better searching with online resources: 4 June 4.30–5 pm

Does it sometimes feel like there are too many resources to look through to find what you need? In this online session, we will simplify searching for you so that the skills you need in one resource can be applied to all.

Citing your work and avoiding plagiarism: 11 June 4.30–5 pm

Plagiarism is presenting another person's work or ideas as your own. This session shows you how to get the right citations from academic resources to present your own work in the best way possible.

Library resources for research and study: 18 June 4.30–5 pm.

This session brings together the key resources for HSC subjects, including those that are useful for studying Advanced and Extension courses. These essential eresources and websites will help you find the best information, which can be used from anywhere, anytime with a Library card.

UOW HSC SUBJECT SUPPORT SERIES

Prepare for your exams and maximise your results with help from HSC subject experts.

Students studying for their HSC in 2020 are faced with unprecedented challenges. The University of Wollongong (UOW) is committed to providing additional resources and assistance to help students successfully complete their final year of schooling and transition to tertiary study.

With over 30 FREE subject-specific online sessions running throughout May and June 2020, the HSC Subject Support Series is designed to help students improve their knowledge and understanding of key subject content and discover what HSC exam markers and assessors are looking for. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and receive tips and strategies directly from education professionals with years of experience.
