How to join

To join the Library, please visit any of our three libraries, complete an application form and provide one (1) form of identification with your name and current address.

Examples of valid forms of identification we accept are:

  • Driver's licence
  • NSW Government issued proof of age card
  • Health card
  • Household bills

If you are under the age of 16, you are required to have a parent or guardian sign a completed registration form.

Your Library card

Your membership card is required every time you wish to borrow and to use Library equipment such as photocopying, printing and PCs.

Your Library card is your key to our eLibrary and online resources. With your Library card number you are able to access thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks and online magazine titles, as well as online courses and databases.

If you lose your card, please contact us to have it cancelled. There is a $5.00 fee (GST inclusive) for replacing a lost card.

Toy and Game Library card

Randwick City Library has over 2,500 toys and games for loan. To borrow toys and games you will need to have a Toy and Game Library card; the membership has an annual fee payable on the anniversary of joining.

Some Randwick Council residents may be exempt from payment - find out more at Randwick Toy and Game Library membership.

Renewing and reserving items

Renewals

All items borrowed on your Library Card, except HSC material and Red Hot Reads, may be renewed three (3) times before the due date, provided no one has reserved the item.

Toys and games borrowed on a Toy and Game Library Card may be renewed two (2) times before the due date, provided no one has reserved the item.

To renew online through My Account, you'll need to login with your Borrower card number and 4-digit PIN. You won't be able to renew any items online that are currently overdue.

Reserves

If the item you are wishing to borrow is currently on loan, you are able to reserve the item at no charge.

Reserves can be made through our Library catalogue using your account details and selecting which branch you'd like to collect your item from.

What if Randwick City Library doesn't have the item you're after?

Material not held in the Library's collection may be requested from Interlibrary loans for a fee of $2 per item, or $16.50 from Speciality and University collections. Additionally, you're able to recommend an item to be purchased and added to our collection.

Inter-library loans can be requested through our online form.

Overdue, lost and damaged items

Penalties are incurred for the late return, loss or damage of items. More information on the Library's fees and charges can be found on our Fees and Charges page.
