We offer a wide range of events and activities designed with our multicultural community in mind.


TECHconnect Classes in Chinese

This monthly tutoring session is for Mandarin or Cantonese speaking seniors with basic computer skills.

TECHConnect Classes in Chinese are held at Bowen Library every third Wednesday of the month (excluding January) 2 - 4pm.

Cost: The Chinese TECHconnect Classes are a free program.

Les Bébés Aiment Les Livresh : Babies Love Books (French)

Babies Love Books in French is a monthly program for children 0-5 years. Children can enjoy music, rhymes and stories every month of the year.

Come along for rhymes, songs, stories and craft in Japanese. All children aged 0-5 years are welcome.

Fourth Thursday of the month, except December, from 10:45 - 11:15am.

开心小熊猫乐园 : Little Pandas Club (Mandarin)

Preschoolers will enjoy a session of children's songs, rhymes and a short film or story in Mandarin.

Book Club for people from non-English speaking backgrounds

This Book Club aims to further promote literacy among people from non-English speaking backgrounds through reading and discussing fiction titles from popular authors. This free book club meets every fortnight for 2 hours, except during school holidays and public holidays.

To join, you must:

  • Be a library member from a culturally and linguistically diverse background
  • Have basic English conversational skills
  • Love reading
  • Want to share your thoughts and ideas with a group of like-minded people.

Free library tours are offered to ESL classes and community groups from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The tour helps patrons from non-English speaking backgrounds understand the Library's services and resources to allow them to get the most out of their membership. To book a tour, please phone 9093 6400 or contact us.
