Randwick City Library offers a volunteer Justice of the Peace (JP) service at locations as outlined below, excluding public holidays. No bookings are required.

If you have a large number of documents, please consider making a personal appointment with a JP using the JP Public Register

Customers with more than 4 documents may be asked to return at another time. This is at the discretion of the JP on service. If you have a large number of documents, please consider making a personal appointment using the JP Public Register.

Please have any photocopies, original documents and ID prepared in advance.

NSWs JPs - Dos and Don'ts

New South Wales Justices of the Peace CAN certify copies, witness statutory declarations and affidavits, and perform other functions authorised under NSW legislation.

New South Wales Justices of the Peace are PROHIBITED from witnessing ANY of the following documents:

  • Powers of Attorney
  • Proof of Life forms
  • Queensland Land Title documents

If you require a Power of Attorney to be witnessed it MUST be witnessed by a Soilcitor or Court Registrar.

Documents originating from outside Australia, including embassy documents, or documents intended for use outside Australia, cannot be witnessed by a NSW Justice of the Peace. In these cases, you will need to see a Public Notary.

Do you need to complete a Commonwealth statutory declaration?

Did you know that you can create and download a digital Commonwealth statutory declaration in English using the myGov website or the myGov app? Your Digital Identity will be used to verify your identity and ensure your declaration is legally binding without the need for a physical witness. For more information, please visit myGov.
