Sharps

Dealing with needles and syringes

Abandoned needles and syringes pose a huge health risk especially in areas where children might pick them up - such as outside schools or in public parks. Randwick City Council encourages residents to report any sharps as quickly as possible.

Needles and syringes found in public places

If you have found a needle or syringe in a public place, please contact the Needle Cleanup Hotline on 1800 633 353, or call our call centre team on 1300 722 542.

Public disposal bins

Many local businesses provide community sharps disposal bins in public toilets and restrooms. Sharps disposal bins are often found in service industries such as entertainment, hospitality and accommodation and in major retail centres.
