• Project summary: As part of Council’s continued effort to upgrade its open space facilities to its residents, Council is planning to complete Maroubra Junction Town Centre Upgrade. This will transform the currently under-utilised area into an urban park and area for community use

Background

Council has been allocated $1M in funding under the NSW Government Your High Street grant program to create the new public space. The program was launched in November 2020 to support councils across NSW make permanent improvements to the amenity and functionality of their High Streets. The program recognises the importance of streets as public spaces to support community and economic recovery.

Construction

Temporary traffic calming devices will be implemented when required during the course of construction for the safety of the community and contractors. Noise, erosion and dust controls will be used to mitigate any adverse impacts on the surrounding community and environment. There will be 2x parking spots unavailable for site compound during construction in the carpark.

Local residents and/or business owners will be notified prior to work commencing.

Important Date

Work will commence at the beginning of January 2023. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2023, weather permitting
