About this event

Join artist Ben Quilty in conversation with Michaela Kalowski as they discuss Quilty's most recent collection of paintings from his series 'Free Fall' and it's accompanying book.

‘To make paintings of men punching the life out of each other feels like an apt response to being alive in 2021.’ – Ben Quilty.

Widely known for his thick, gestural oil paintings, Quilty’s latest work focuses on the geographical relationship of Australia to the world, and the consequences of violence and war that served as a foundation in shaping a national psyche.

Michaela Kalowski is an interviewer, moderator and presenter. Ben Quilty is the recipient of numerous art prizes including the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, Archibald Prize and the Prudential Eye Award for Contemporary Art in Singapore, his work is represented in major national and international collections.
