Women's Art Prize 2022 Exhibition

The Women's Art Prize is open to female artists who live, work or study in Randwick City. Each year, we host an art exhibition of the best in competition - in honour of International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. The 2022 theme for International Women’s Day: Break the Bias.

113 beautiful artworks were submitted. Each work was judged by Tesha Malott, an arts professional with a passion for supporting experimental and contemporary art practice in Australia. Tesha is the current Director of Verge Gallery at University of Sydney and has worked alongside and mentored many of Australia’s leading emerging artists. Tesha was recognised for her contribution to the NSW arts sector through a nomination for Museums and Galleries Individual Achievement Award in 2018.

This year’s winners for our 12–19 year-old category are:

1st prize: Niranjana Ghosh for ‘Joker’
2nd prize: Emelia O’Leary for ‘Working Conditions for Women Making Garments in the third World’
3rd prize: Jasmine Miller, for ‘COVID City’
Councillor’s choice: Jessica Mang for ‘Mistress’

This year’s winners for the 20+ year-old category are:

1st prize: Elena Guerrera for ‘The ship I arrived in’
2nd prize: Aileen Anderson for ‘Between the Lines’
3rd prize: Anne Ring for ‘The Couple’

Councillor’s choice: Tanya Duckworth for ‘Dames d’Heremes: Selle des steppes’

This exhibition is open during library opening hours.

The Women's Art Prize 2022 Exhibition of selected works is located in the Lionel Bowen Library’s exhibition space.
