Library services and events - frequently asked questions

How long is the Library closed for?

Unfortunately, we don’t have the answer to this at the moment. We recommend checking our website and subscribing to our eNewsletter to keep up to date.

How can I get in touch with you now?

You can reach us by phone (02) 9093 6400 and email contactus@randwick.nsw.gov.au from Monday to Friday 9.00am-5.00pm.

Is Learning Links on level 3 of Bowen Library and the Coffee Shop on ground level still open?

No Learning Links has also closed. Read more about the measures they are taking here

What if my item is due to return or if I have received an overdue notice?

All items now have a due date of 30 June.

We are suspending all overdue notices as of today. If you would like to return an item feel free to use the after-hours chute in front of our libraries. There won't be any fees for overdue items.

Can I still reserve items for collection?

Reservation of items has been suspended while our branches are closed.

I have paid the Toy Library membership. Will I receive a refund now that the Toy and Game Library is closed?

We won't issue any refunds but the validity of your Toy Library memberships will be extended by the amount of time that we remain closed.

How can I keep myself entertained when I practice social distancing?

We have an extensive range of fantastic online resources you can enjoy FREE OF CHARGE with your Library membership. Visit our eLibrary website for all resources on offer including thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines, as well as films and documentaries. Or improve your language and job-seeking skills from the comfort of your own home. For ease of access download our myLibrary app.

In front of Lionel Bowen Library in Maroubra, we have a pop-up library with a stack of discards that we normally sell for a song. If you're close by, take home a book for free. No need to return it but keep a safe distance to others of 1.5 meters when browsing.

Can I get help over the phone if I need assistance with apps and eResources?

If you need help accessing our online resources we will be available to answer all questions from Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. Please call (02) 9093 6400 or email contactus@randwick.nsw.gov.au.

Can I access your online resources if I am not a Library member?

Yes. We have worked hard to enable you to access all of our fantastic e-resources such as Storybox for kids and great films and docos on Kanopy to keep you entertained in these challenging times. Simply sign up for a membership online and we will be in touch with further details.

Where can I print or photocopy?

You can print documents at Officeworks and some newsagents. At Maroubra, the Newsagency J and H at 3/701-705 Anzac Parade has a photocopier. Some other libraries might still be open to use their resources (please check their website).

We recommend to always check company websites and social media channels for updates, or to give them a call before your visit.

Where can I find a Justice of the Peace (JPs)?

Please visit the NSW Government website for the Justice of the Peace (jp.nsw.gov.au). You can search the Public Register to find your nearest JP or a JP who speaks a particular language.

I have limited or no internet access. How can I access my emails and use the internet?

Visitors to Coogee Beach & Goldstein Reserve, Maroubra Beach, Little Bay Beach, Clovelly Beach, and Heffron Park soccer field and sports fields can access up to 5 gigabytes of free public wifi per day. Please don't access any sensitive data on public wifi.

Some Convenience Stores offer internet to use but might charge a small fee. Google "internet cafe" in your area and give them a call to see if they are still open so you won't be disappointed.

Practice social distancing at any time indoors as well as outdoors.
