Burnie Park features a small Council-run community hall set in the surrounds of delightful parkland that features a children’s playground and is walking distance to the beautiful Clovelly Beach. The hall is home to the local playgroup and offers safety fencing for children, an equipped kitchen with microwave and fridge/freezer facilities. On street parking.

Whilst the current Public Health Order and NSW Health rules for NSW no longer imposes density limits for Council’s community halls, we do ask hirers to be mindful of the requirement to maintain safe physical distance and therefore manage the numbers included in their activity accordingly.

  • Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

  • disabled access: Yes, with assistance, no wheelchair accessible toilets.
  • is ideal for playgroups, dance groups, children's birthday parties, yoga classes, art classes, music classes.
  • jumping castles/inflatable devices are prohibited on Council premises.
  • no amplified music can be played in the hall for e.g. karaoke disco parties.
  • a minimum hire period of 3 hours applies to all casual hire.

Hiring Rates

Council has two hiring rates:

  • the Private/Commercial rate is used when it is for a private function or when a group or organisation charges an entry fee or participation charge.  Also relates to any booking that competes with local business.
  • the Non-Commercial rate is for non-commercial groups. Parties claiming non-commercial rate must provide, prior to hire, a Notice of Endorsement for Charity Tax Concessions from the Australian Taxation Office or a copy of the entity’s constitution including a not for profit clause.
  • A $400 bond is required for all bookings.
  • A  regular hirer needs to provide $20m in public liability insurance.

How to apply

  • The first thing you need to do is contact Council's Call Centre on 1300 722 542 to enquire if the hall is available on the date you prefer.
  • Once a booking date has been agreed verbally, a tentative booking is held for 7 days. You are then required to complete the Application form.
  • If your application is successful a confirmation email will then be sent to you confirming the booking.  Payment via Bpoint will be required by the due date on the letter.  Non receipt of payment by the due date will result in cancellation of your booking.

Payment & Key collection

  • Payment is required 7 days after your booking has been confirmed online via BPoint with the booking reference in your confirmation email or via cash, cheque, eftpos or credit card.
  • Weekend hirers are required to come into Council's Customer Service Centre, 30 Frances Street Randwick on the Friday afternoon before your event between 2pm and 4pm to collect the access card or keys.
  • Weekday hirers are required to come into Council's Customer Service Centre, 30 Frances Street Randwick on the morning of the booking between 9am and 11am or the day before between 2pm and 4pm to collect the access card or keys.

Where do I collect the key?

At Council's Customer Service Centre located in the Administration Building, 30 Frances Street Randwick.

Where do I return the key?

Council has a 24 hour drop box at the entrance of the Administration Building where you can drop the keys in after your booking. Keys are to be returned by 12noon the following business day. Failure to do so will result in a $20 deduction from the refund of bond.

When will I receive the refund of my bond?

The refund of your bond is processed once the key has been returned and all conditions of hire have been met. Depending on your payment method your bond will be refunded  onto your credit card, by cheque or direct deposit into your nominated bank account. This can take between 5-10 business days.
