Randwick City Council has prepared a Community Engagement Strategy (CES) which outlines how and when we will engage with our community on planning, Council projects and other matters of relevance to the local community.
In July and August this year, we asked for your voice; to share your experiences engaging with Council and tell us how you would like to be consulted in the future.
What we heard:
Community Engagement Survey
Randwick 100 Forum
An online survey to gather resident's opinions on the importance of consultation, how they engage, how they want to be engaged, and expectations about consultation on development matters.
An insightful discussion with 100 representative Randwick City residents about what the community wants to be engaged on, how and when.
188 responses.
Residents feel it is very important that Council engages with the community.
Engagement is important because it is the community’s right to be consulted and the knowledge and experience shared improves outcomes.
People feel that a lack of awareness and limited time are the two main barriers for engaging with Council.
Residents prefer to engage online, followed by in-person workshops or focus groups, then online workshop or focus group.
For face to face engagement, residents prefer small focus groups based on local issues, followed by pop ups around the area.
Residents are motivated to engage because they are interested in improving their local area.
