When it comes to sport, community pride, and social inclusion within Aboriginal Communities, look no further than La Perouse.
Going back many generations, Indigenous sporting legends and heroes from La Perouse have made incredible achievements in rugby league, sailing, rugby, netball, surfing, boxing, cricko (cricket) and vigoro. The Museum is honoured to partner with the La Perouse Panthers Aboriginal Sporting Association, Elders and community leaders of the La Perouse Aboriginal community to document and display memories of sporting heroes, and what sports means to themselves and to the Community as a whole.
The exhibition will feature a curated film, and rare and significant sporting objects, archives, photographs and stories both from the Museum's collections and loaned from the Community for this special event.
A suite of public programs relating to Talking Sport will added to this page very soon. For more enquiries, please call 9093 6190 or email lpm@randwick.nsw.gov.au
