With playful names like, Decantus excutio, Tobaccus ubiquitous and Surplus slurpus, these synthetic ‘species’ regularly washed up on our beaches and being displayed in cylindrical tubes at Maroubra Beach, will engage your heart and mind in a meaningful and memorable way in learning about the threats to the health of our oceans.
These common plastic debris items displayed, teach us that plastic can be very useful, but that some plastic is not fantastic at all in the way we use it. In fact, once it hits the ocean, it sticks around ad infinitum. Hosted by the Ocean Action Pod, you’ll find out: what single use plastic is on its way out, what still needs to go and what we can do to help our oceans stay healthy by becoming an Everyday Ocean Action Hero!
