The Randwick Puppet Festival is coming to a venue close to you! Pop in to the library to see the exhibition and to hear Richard Bradshaw talk about his life as a famous shadow puppeteer.
Richard was born in Maroubra, grew up in Kensington and was a member of the Clovelly Puppet Theatre. He is also considered to be a world expert on shadow puppetry and has presented his shadow puppets to audiences of children and adults in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
We are privileged to have Richard open the RANDWICK PUPPET FESTIVAL 2020 with a talk entitled ‘My life with puppets’. Richard’s puppets featured in an early Muppet Show and were the subject of a one-hour documentary made by Jim Henson, with the ABC in Sydney in 1984. He received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 1986 “for services to the arts as a puppeteer” and in 1987 he shared the Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award “for sustained excellence in the field of puppetry”. Richard’s knowledge of shadow puppetry is unsurpassed and he will share his enthusiasm for the art of puppetry in this one off event. Bookings essential.
