Calling all vegie growers! The 2023 Grow It Local Awards are open for entries. Now in its third year, the annual competition is a community-minded celebration of homegrown culture.

“It’s wonderful to see so many Randwick residents growing amazing things in their backyards, on their balconies and on their windowsills. This competition fosters creativity, sustainability and community spirit in our City,” said Mayor Dylan Parker.

There are 10 exciting award categories open for entry:

• Biggest vegetable
• Wonkiest vegetable
• Vegetable that looks the most like…
• Australia’s best chicken name
• School garden
• Homegrown hero
• Homegrown harvest
• Sustainable gardener
• Wildest garden
• Only a grower knows the feeling

Proudly supported by Randwick Council. Grow It Local is a community organisation that aims to make growing food accessible, social and fun for all Australians. In Randwick, there are more than 650 residents who are part of the Grow It Local community, growing, learning and sharing produce together. There are also more than 120 patches registered, cultivating 3715 square metres of land.

How to enter: Post an image of your entry on Facebook or Instagram, and in your caption make sure you: hashtag #growitlocal, tag @growitlocal, mention your local council and the category you want to enter.
