Internships & work experience

We routinely offer 6 month internships within the Engineering department (usually in November and May each year) and 12 month internships within the Planning department. From time to time there may be other internships offered. All internship opportunities will be advertised on our current vacancies page and applications can be submitted via our usual recruitment methods.

Work experience

Council's work experience program provides students with an unpaid opportunity to gain on-the-job experience. Council is dedicated to providing meaningful industry experience to students in a variety of areas across Council.

You must be a secondary or tertiary student seeking relevant unpaid experience. Students need to be covered for public liability and personal accident insurance by a recognised school, tertiary institution or referral agency.

How to apply

Work experience placements are available throughout the year. The number and timing of placements will depend on whether the work area can provide an effective on-the-job experience. Students should email their interest to outlining the dates, duration, and the specific area of interest. Please attach a resume if you have one.
