Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive local government committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. Our Development Assessment Business Unit is seeking suitably experienced and qualified Senior Planner/s to join the team.

The successful candidate will enjoy the challenge of negotiating, managing, and assessing a caseload of diverse applications including major developments in the Kensington and Kingsford town centres, and a wide range of commercial, industrial, open space, housing, and subdivision applications.

We will trust you to bring

  • Tertiary qualification/s, at degree level, in planning, architecture or urban design, or a related field (i.e. building surveying, construction management, etc).
  • Extensive experience in the assessment of complex planning matters, preferably within local government within NSW.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling Land and Environment Court matters.
  • Good knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and other relevant environmental and planning legislation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and able to demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships.
  • Good computer literacy and understanding of software packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Demonstrated high quality report writing skills.
  • Awareness of and commitment to the principles of quality customer services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity, Work Health and Safety and a culturally diverse society.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics, probity and transparency in decision making.
  • Current Class C driver licence.
