Our roadmap to reopening.

After a nearly four-month closure due to the COVID lockdown, Randwick City Council facilities including its libraries, museum, gym, nursery and recycling centre will start opening back up to fully vaccinated and medically exempt customers in October 2021.

Currently, Council’s libraries are offering a click and collect service, the Randwick Recycling Centre is available by appointment only and DRLC outdoor pools are open to both vaccinated and non-vaccinated customers.

From Monday 11 October 2021, Council’s bushcare volunteers will recommence and outdoor pools at DRLC will be available to fully vaccinated and medically exempt customers only.

From Monday 18 October 2021, Council’s Customer Service Centre, DRLC gym, Randwick Recycling Centre, Randwick Community Nursery, La Perouse Museum, selected community centres and halls will reopen to fully vaccinated and medically exempt regular hirers. Also HSC students will be able to access Council’s libraries for study.

From Monday 25 October 2021, Council’s libraries will reopen and DRLC indoor pools and learn to swim programs will recommence.

Randwick Mayor Dylan Parker says the reopening is being done in a carefully considered COVID-safe manner with each individual site having a COVID safe plan to protect Council staff and customers.

“As we’ve now reached the 70% vaccination target triggering a relaxation of restrictions for vaccinated people, I’m sure everyone will be excited to start to enjoy a little bit more freedom like grabbing a book from the library, dropping into the nursery or visiting the gym,” said Mayor Dylan Parker.

“Council has put considerable time and resources into ensuring the reopening complies with the NSW Public Health Order and has strong regard to the health and well-being of our residents, customers and staff.

“Our community has done a lot of heavy lifting in recent months, first by staying at home and then by getting vaccinated. A thoroughly considered reopening means we can stay open for good.”

“I would particularly like to acknowledge our hard-working Council staff who demonstrated extraordinary perseverance and flexibility throughout the lockdown,” said Mayor Parker.

All Council staff working in customer facing roles at the locations reopening will be fully vaccinated.
