A popular children’s playground at Kokoda Park, Kensington will be re-opened with a small event for local children and their families on Saturday 27 November at 3pm. The event will include free gelato, entertainment and Council giveaways.

The newly improved playground, which has equipment appropriate for children of all abilities, was relocated to a larger space and equipment for inclusive and sensory play included in the design.

The improved playground includes a basket swing for all ages and abilities, a toddler-appropriate multi-play boat, see-saw, voice tubes for sensory play, rope equipment and a wheelchair accessible carousel for all ages and abilities.

“Playgrounds like these are so important for our community,” says Deputy Mayor Lindsay Shurey. “They offer a chance for young minds to grow and develop away from screens and provide much needed outdoor time for families. It’s always a great honour for Council to be able to provide facilities such as these, which can be accessed and used by kids of all ages and abilities.”
