Upgrades & Improvements

The Coogee Beach balustrade is in need of repair and repaint. Over the years, the gate and fence have been battered by salt water spray, wind and rain and they have deteriorated from their initial state. While repair takes place, the balustrade will be removed and replaced with a temporary balustrade. This project will take place in two stages.

Stage 1: Beginning Monday 31 May

The upper level balustrade and the remaining low level gate panels will be removed. It should take up to one week for removal, weather permitting. The fence and panels will be taken off-site to be repainted and a temporary hoarding and handrail will be installed during this time. The painting should take approximately one month.

Stage 2: Due to begin week of 5 July

Once painted and repaired, the balustrade will be reinstalled back along the promenade. Beginning the week of 5 July, the installation process should take approximately three weeks to complete.

Temporary pedestrian management during the construction will implemented for the safety of the community and contractors.
Noise, erosion and dust controls will be used to mitigate any adverse impacts on the surrounding community.
