Many apartment buildings are literally pouring money down the drain by unintentionally wasting water.

WaterFix® Strata is a Sydney Water service aiming to reduce water wastage by repairing or replacing leaking or inefficient taps, toilets and showers in apartment blocks. They work specifically with apartment customers to significantly reduce water use throughout the entire building.

Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra Councils have partnered with Sydney Water to make this service more accessible for local strata residents across Sydney’s eastern suburbs, and capture water and financial savings.

It’s a simple 5 step process from registration to celebration!

1. Check

Once you register your building here, you’ll receive via email the results of a free Sydney Water online assessment of your building’s current water use, based on historical data and information you provide.

2. Quote

Depending on your building’s assessment, Sydney Water may organise an inspection of 10% of apartments to provide an accurate quote for the service and determine if you’re eligible for a Sydney Water performance plan. This means no upfront cost, and the service is paid via savings on water bills. In addition to this, Randwick Council is also providing a rebate of up to $2,000 towards WaterFix Strata upgrades as part of our Sustainability Rebates program.

If your building is a low or typical water performer, then no further work needs to be done. Well done and keep up your water-wise ways!

3. Buy-In

Present the quote and assessment results to your Strata Committee (or Owners Corporation) for approval to proceed. Council and Sydney Water representatives can attend meetings to provide support, and answer questions about the process.

4. Delivery

An appointed Sydney Water project manager organises all the communications and access to apartments with all tenants. Plumbers install water efficient fixtures and fittings in each apartment and common property, and fix any leaks.

5. Save & Celebrate

You receive a Sydney Water report on your building’s water and financial savings, plus a certificate and poster you can use to promote your water-wise ways. Now you can enjoy annual water bill savings into the future!
