Randwick City Council has been named a finalist in the Government category of the prestigious Banksia Sustainability Awards this year for its sustainability achievements and initiatives to protect and conserve Randwick City’s environment.

“We are stewards of an incredibly beautiful part of Sydney and it’s up to us to identify and provide the practical solutions to protect our diverse environment, now and for future generations” said Randwick Mayor Danny Said. “Receiving recognition as a finalist in the Banksia Awards across local and State Government levels across Australia is an enormous compliment for Council’s sustainability programs and our initiatives and partnerships with our local community.”

These awards take into consideration all of our efforts and initiatives over the past 2 years to reduce energy, save potable water, bring down greenhouse emissions, increase our waste recovery and conserve our natural environment and to bring them together in our new Environment Strategy.

The Banksia Sustainability Awards are the most prestigious sustainability awards in Australia and longest-running sustainability awards in the world. They recognise individual and organisation contributions to sustainability across Australia and educate the community about sustainability. Winners will be announced on Wednesday 24 March.
