Coogee Shared Space proposal

Randwick Council has been working with local businesses in Coogee to assist them through the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve heard that they have been hard hit with restrictions on patron numbers for cafes and restaurants. They are asking for more space for social distancing and outdoor dining.

To support businesses and our local community navigate COVID-19 safely we are proposing to create more footpath space on Coogee Bay Rd for outdoor dining and to help people spread out.

Vehicle access will be maintained on Coogee Bay Road but will become one-way between Arden and Brook Streets, while parking will be maintained on both sides of the road.

The extra space created by temporarily removing a travel lane will assist in social distancing, helping provide more space for outdoor dining at local businesses and creating a livelier and more pleasant town centre for shoppers.

The proposal is part of Randwick Council’s COVID support plan and is proposed to commence in October 2020 for an initial trial period of three months.

We want to know what you think about the plans! Have your say now by visiting our YourSay Randwick website and complete our feedback tool. We're also calling for expressions of interest from local performers and entertainers who may be interested in street based performing.
