Just when you thought Randwick City was all about beach living and sunshine, we’ve gone and put together a tonne of events to keep your July busting with fun. Forget Netflix, Stan or Foxtel, here’s what you need to have your finger on the pulse in Randwick City in July.


  1. Friday Night Movies  - July 5, July 19
    Over the next few months, we’ll be showing movies at the Lionel Bowen Library. The event is free, but you must be a library member to attend. Membership is free and you can sign up at any branch. With a variety of films to suit all ages – from teens and up – we’d love you to come along. Check out our program to see what’s playing and when.
  2. Randwick Community Race Day – July 6
    Randwick City Council and the Australian Turf Club have partnered up once again to host the annual Community Race Day at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday 6 July from 10.30am. With free entry for Randwick City residents and ratepayers, this family friendly event will feature a host of free children’s activities and entertainment. Here’s how to claim your free tickets. 
  3. Yeti comes to visit! – July 8
    As part of our winter school holiday program, this event is open to kids in years 3 to 6. You’ll create a Yeti and a collage background using paper products then bring it to life with stop-motion techniques! Sign up now.  
  4. Pom Pom Making! – July 10
    For primary school kids, this event will show you how many things you can make with a pom pom. It’s just $5 and at the Malabar Community Library. Sign up to get your pom pom on!
  5. The Knit-in Group – July 11
    Join fellow knitters in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at St Basil’s Randwick Community Room. Every Thursday until 26 September 2019. Here's more information.
  6. Lucky is Back! HSC Q&A session – July 12 & 26
    Lucky Joeng, the founder of Rabbit Education, is back at the library for his popular Q&A sessions for HSC students. Come and pick Lucky’s brain about all things HSC Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
  7. The Merry Frolics of Melie’s – a twilight concert – July 13
    Don't miss this rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the magical world of French film pioneer, Georges Méliès and internationally renowned jazz musician Phillip Johnston. Book quickly, as it fills up! 
  8. Bastille Day at La Perouse – July 14
    One of our signature events of the year, Bastille Day is a lovely day out for the whole family. Come and celebrate all things French with historical re-enactments, food and drink stalls, live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family. Here's what you need to know! Don't miss out!
  9. Youth Event: Fashion of Tomorrow – July 18
    Future fashion is sustainable! Bring along or use supplied waste materials collected off streets, beaches and homes, and turn it into haute couture hats & jewellery. Local artist and eco-activist Marina DeBris will run this creative “Trashion” workshop as part of our Randwick City of Tomorrow youth art exhibition. Sign up!
  10. Beach Breaks Carnival! – July 29
    Randwick City Council’s annual Maroubra Beach Breaks Carnival will feature an array of family fun entertainment, live music and the unveiling of new inductees into the ‘Australian Surfing Walk of Fame’. Come along and join the fun!
