The remediation and improvement of the Jack Vanny Reserve in Maroubra is nearing completion and we’d like to thank residents for their patience throughout the process.

We’ve taken great care to work closely with the Environmental Protection Agency and a third party environmental consultant every step of the way.

Despite heavy rainfall in October, we have been able to stay on track and the reserve will be reopened for everyone to enjoy by December 2018.

Contaminated material has been removed from the area and a cap has been placed over the site to create a barrier between the bedrock and new soil.

We have refilled the fenced area with clean soil and are in the process of returfing and landscaping the area.

Air monitoring tests conducted throughout the process have returned clear results, which will be welcome news to many of you.

If you’d like further information about how we have been working with the EPA and our environmental consultant throughout the process, please visit this page, which has detailed information about the remediation works.
