Day of Yoga

Randwick residents are encouraged to salute the sun with Randwick Councillors and fellow community members at Maroubra Beach from 7am to 8am on Thursday 21 June 2018 as part of the International Day of Yoga.

Yoga instructors from Des Renford Leisure Centre will lead three concurrent yoga sessions, which will be suitable for all levels of experience, on the sand, concrete and grassed areas of the Maroubra Beach promenade.

“I can’t think of a better way to start the day,” said Mayor Shurey. “Maroubra Beach is simply stunning no matter what the season and there are no doubts as to the health benefits that come with practicing yoga.

“When you combine all of that with an event that promotes unity and inclusion, people are bound to feel peaceful, happy and ready to continue into the rest of their day with a smile on their face.”

Free fruit will be available after the yoga session and attendees will have the opportunity to meet local yoga teachers if they wish to find out more about yoga.

No bookings are required for this free community event but attendees are encouraged to bring their own towel or mat and water bottle and to wear loose, comfortable clothing.
